Team of 31

August 23, 2016| Posted By Charles Gaston

LETTER TO PARISHIONERS FROM CAMERON COLE:

A youth pastor once posed a provocative question to me. What would be better: for a person to spend ten hours with a young person or for a person to pray for that same young person for ten hours? It’s a thought provoking-question, which drives home the point of just how critically our children need prayer.

Our church desires to raise up young people who will stick with Christ and the church for their entire lives and who will live lives of redemption in a dark, hurting world. Perhaps the best thing we can do for our future generation, as a congregation, is to pray for the children and parents of our church.

Consequently, the children, youth, and family ministry is forming a Team of 31. We would like thirty-one people in our church to sign up to pray for the children and parents for one hour one day of the month.

knuckle31A person will sign up for one date of the month where they will pray for one hour. For example, a person who signs up for “5” will pray on September 5, October 5, November 5, etc. for one hour. It will be a great encouragement to our children and families to know that someone in the church is praying for them each day of the year.

We will provide each person with a list of generic prayer requests that can help serve as suggestions for prayer (e.g., pray that God will protect our teenage drivers on the road, pray that God will give our parents wisdom in disciplining their children, etc.).

You can sign up for a date on our online sign up sheet. You can also contact Mary Beth Cunningham (marybeth@cathedraladvent.com or 251.2324). If you want a specific date, you can sign up for it. If you are open to any date, please let us know.

You may not have the time, ability, or desire to teach children’s Sunday school or chaperone a youth mission trip, but you can make a significant contribution to our church’s ministry to our future generation.

In Christ,

Cameron Cole
Director of Children, Youth, and Family

If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.   -2 Chronicles 7:14
