For many people the Christmas and holiday season is one of great joy, but for many more it can be one of the most difficult times of the year emotionally.
During a recent Forum gathering after the Five O’Clock service, Kent Michael shared various ideas on how to handle anxiety during this season He offered a number of suggestions that shared a common theme: community. Fully understanding our relationships with ourselves and others helps create space for emotionally healthy expectations that allow us to move through this season in a positive way.
The Advent is grateful for the opportunity God has given us to provide counseling and other pastoral care resources to members of our parish. Our clergy and licensed counselors offer confidential counseling to individuals experiencing emotional and spiritual anxiety. At Advent House, trained prayer intercessors provide compassionate and confidential prayer support. A variety of support groups meet throughout the year, meeting the unique needs of different groups.
If you’re experiencing anxiety during this season (or any other), we hope you’ll reach out to us and give us an opportunity to meet with you and provide support along your journey.
