Attention Week: Friday | Brother Bryan Mission

Founded by one of Birmingham’s unsung heroes, the Rev. James Alexander Bryan, this mission has served as a beacon of hope for men who have lost their way since 1940, making it the oldest rescue mission in our city. What started as a modest outreach ministry has now grown into a 65 bed facility using the resources of food, clothing, shelter and other intangible assets to minister the to those in need of help and healing.
Brother Bryan Mission offers two primary programs to support men recovering from addiction, 9-month recovery program and a back-to-work program. The Advent has hosted two graduations of Brother Bryan participants, where we have been able to visit with the men who are going through their programs. In addition, several men in our congregation serve as mentors to men working through these programs.
Prayer for Brother Bryan Mission – “God of all comfort, we pray that you would pour out your blessings upon Brother Bryan Rescue Mission. As they disciple men with addictions, please provide for all of their needs and protect them from despair.”
